xmas fortunes

the family (minus one) went out to have a good old fashioned chinese xmas dinner. we went to 'jen wei', on main street a bit past booth memorial boulevard, near new york hospital, across from the car wash. the food was meh, wouldn't drive me to go back. at the end of the meal, the fortune cookies arrived, and i noticed a theme among the fortunes. typically fortunes are sappy and irrelevant, but these seem to be part of some anti-complacency propaganda:

'Vary your friendships.'

'The important thing is to never stop questioning.'

'The great aim of education is not knowledge but action.'

who's writing this stuff?

on an unrelated note, steve pointed out that nytimes had a short article about how ny1 switched to low-bandwidth during the strike and its explanations. pretty cool.
